The honour of "Heves Megye Bora" ("The Wine of Heves County") was awarded for the second time this year on the initiative of the Heves Megyei Önkormányzat (Local Government of Heves County), and in the cooperation of the Egri Borvidék Hegyközségi Tanács (Eger Wine-Growing Region Council) and the Mátrai Borvidék Hegyközségi Tanács (Mátra Wine-Growing Region Council).
An eight strong critical committee consisting of experts and members of the County Local Government, with the chairmanship of Miklós Kállay dr. professor, decided on the award of honour at the Mayor Bureau of Gyöngyös on 27th May 2004.

The honour of "The Wine of Heves County 2004" was awarded to the following wines in

In the Category of Mátrai Szürkebarát (Grey Friend of Mátra)
The 2003 vintage Pinot Grigio Szürkebarát Wine of Szőlőskert Rt (Szőlőskert Joint-Stock Company), Nagyréde

This wine is one of the most well known in Mátraalja (at the foot of Mátra) and Nagyréde, made by the customers' request; Fresh, fragrant and a harmoniously round wine.












In the Category of White Wine of the Mátra Wine-Growing Region
The 2003 vintage Mátraaljai Sauvignon Blanc "Medalion" Wine of the Danubiana Bt (Danubiana Limited Partnership), Gyöngyös

The fragrance of this glorious wine reminds us of the smell of freshly cut grass, and a slightly unripe gooseberry. It was also awarded the "Wine of Gyöngyös Town". Its refreshing flavour can be best discovered at 10 C. We recommend it as an accompaniment with Asian cuisine.

Elegant wine, with a greenish-yellow shade. Beside the ripe fruits, honeyed fragrances, originating from the late grape harvest, dominates its fragrance. Heavy, rich in fruit flavour, smooth, long-tasting, divine wine.

This is a wine made from the grapes grown on the southern slopes of Eged Mountain, which preserves its fruity taste, thanks to the quick processing. It has an intense flowery fragrance, which enhances the rich taste. It can be easily consumed and is recommended for any occasions.






In the Category of Red Wine of the Mátra Wine-Growing Region
Kovács Ferenc's 2003 vintage Cabernet Sauvignon Wine, Markaz

Situated in the best area of Markaz, in the "old mountain field", on volcanic rock soil. This variety of grape, which is widespread on Mátraalja, can be safely harvested with 22-24 degree of sugar consistency every year.
This wine is dark red in colour, with a velvety taste and rich bouquet. It is a heavy, spicy, and peculiar drink. The chocolate, sour cherry and fig appear in its fragrance.

It is a masculine production, which is truly the honour of the woman who inspired the oenologist. The ancient spirit of Eger lives in this bottle and when it escapes,
it praises Csaba Demeter.

Granite red coloured, elegant red wine; earthy, mineral and the skin of grape features can be discovered in its fragrance. It has fruity flavour; velvety, and lovely tannins stroke our palate.
